Connor Van Bodell was drawn to the psychology of the camera, which includes how placement, movement, and light subtly shape an audience’s emotional experience; that ultimately defined his path. Based in Los Angeles, Connor splits his time shooting narrative projects and commercial campaigns for brands including Acura, Rivian, Geico, KFC, SanDisk, Invisalign, and FIFA World Cup 26 Los Angeles, bringing a balance of technical precision and emotional clarity to each project.

The Resistance, a WWII period piece, was shot on location in Belgium and was Connor’s first collaboration with director Natalie Schwan. Captured digitally with the Alexa Mini LF and Leitz Hugo Lenses, Connor sought a combination that textured the image with character reminiscent of early 20th century photography but in a robust package that could handle a myriad of challenging conditions in a fast-paced environment. He also employed the Mesopic filter, originally designed for Nosferatu, during night work for its mimicry of human’s predominantly rods-based vision during twilight.

He has been a proud member of Local 600 for a decade and looks forward to the next 10 years both as a passionate cinematographer as well as an expectant father.
