Frank Buono was born and raised in Seattle, WA, where the art house and independent movie scenes were the perfect environments to influence his passion for cinema. After graduating college, he began working in the film business in the Seattle area. Shortly thereafter, his excitement for and knowledge of cinematography was noticed by several Hollywood cameramen who encouraged him to move to Los Angeles. Frank has worked with Academy Award−winning cinematographers − Janusz Kaminski, Philippe Rousselot and Mauro Fiore, among others − to help invent and execute their cinematic visions. Most notably, Frank collaborated with director Alfonso Cuarón and cinematographer Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki to create one of the most exciting and critically acclaimed “single shots” in film history for the motion picture Children of Men. He has gone on to work as a cinematographer for several short films, Web series and commercial spots.
Frank currently lives in Los Angeles. He is a seventeen-year member of the International Cinematographers Guild.
